First Steps Papatoetoe is a childcare centre in an easy-to-reach Papatoetoe location on Great South Road. Our centre is set in a villa, which helps children feel at home.

Our childcare and early learning rooms

We have two rooms, Harakeke and Toetoe, offering specialised care and education as children grow and develop.

Our Harakeke room. This space caters for children up to three years old. It provides a relaxed home-away-from-home environment for our infants and toddlers. Our experienced teachers ensure our youngest children receive personalised care and attention to explore the world around them. Our Toetoe room provides many opportunities for infants and toddlers to learn and develop their skills to become confident and capable individuals. This space

Our Toetoe room.  This room caters for children aged three to five years old. Here we offer child-centered, play-based curriculum where our experienced teachers help identify children’s dispositions and provide appropriate experiences to support them to become competent, caring and confident individuals. Our Be School Ready initiative helps build children’s early literacy and numeracy skills which are embedded throughout the centre environment. We provide the Be School Ready initiative for all preschool children and are currently working alongside Papatoetoe East, Papatoetoe Central, Papatoetoe West and Puhinui Primary schools to develop a smooth transition between our centre programme and the schools. 

 We have an open door policy and encourage all our families to join us to play a part in teaching our next generation. We look forward to meeting you soon!
