BestStart Weymouth
At BestStart Weymouth, formerly TopKids Weymouth, our team of dedicated teachers deliver high quality care and education for each child. With our love and passion for children, we strive to provide quality learning opportunities to meet the needs of each child in our care. We’re a multicultural centre, with staff and children from a diverse range of culture and backgrounds.
We encourage individuality as we believe each child is unique. Our professional and nurturing staff are passionate about providing a quality programme which guides each child to their full potential. Each child is provided with an individual portfolio which shows their learning and development while they are at the centre. We encourage all parents to take this home regularly and share them with their children.
Our centre is made up of 3 rooms. We offer an infant’s room, toddler’s room and a preschool room. We have large separate playgrounds that support gross motor development and encourage a wonder of the outdoors at different levels.
Our Kiwi Room welcomes children from 0 to 2 years old. We have a great team that support the individual needs of each infant in our care. Our top priority is to work alongside whanau/aiga/families to develop a curriculum which focuses on care and aroha, ensuring every child feels nurtured and safe.
Our Ruru Room wecomes children aged 2 to 3 years. We look at each child’s development individually and incorporate whanau aspirations into the curriculum. We encourage independence in our tamariki while being aware that each child grows and develops at their own pace. We have a friendly team of teachers who work alongside children and their families making ECE a fun, exciting adventure for the children in our care.
Nau Mai Haere Mai Kirtane Mahuta. Our Tane Mahuta Room welcomes children aged 3 to 5 years old. Our teaching team is passionate about our tamariki and celebrate our diversity, multiculturalism and biculturalism. Each child is unique and our open door policy is a wonderful opportunity to build relationships with whanau and to gather information about each special child. Extending learning through curiosity and enquiry helps children build confidence to explore and uncover a whole world of learning. Tane Mahuta is the god of the forest, his tamariki are the birds and insects.
We have an onsite cook who prepares nutritious meals within the healthy heart guidelines. The children also have the opportunity to engage in baking and preparing food as a regular part of our programme.
We have regular parent evenings and events throughout the year and encourage parents to spend time at the centre. Our team values professional development and our staff undertake this regularly to review their teaching practice.
We welcome all visitors to the centre, if you would like to visit please pop by and see us, we would love to meet you.
