BestStart Waltham Kindy

BestStart Waltham Kindy (formerly ABC Waltham) is a converted villa giving the centre a very home-like feel. The centre has a huge 500 square metre playground, giving the children plenty of space and time to explore and work alongside others.

We value that children learn through play, therefore our free play environment is paramount. We identify the fundamental importance of child-initiated play and provide a variety of resources to extend children’s relationships with one another.

We foster children’s development holistically by nurturing children’s physical, intellectual, emotional, social and language skills. We identify that tamariki need time to be able to explore, experience and establish their own working theories and concepts of the natural surroundings. Teachers engage with children by utilising their interests and extending on their knowledge through providing guidance, support and working alongside tamariki.

We develop and foster responsive and reciprocal relationships with whanau by treating them with respect and understanding. ABC Waltham provides a welcoming environment for all tamariki, whanau and community and understands the importance of their contribution to the learning within the centre. We aim to provide an environment where language and culture are prevalent; therefore we install tamariki’s awareness and sense of well-being and belonging through the use of Te Reo, Tikanga and natural resources within our everyday practice.
