BestStart Turangi Kindy

BestStart Turangi Kindy (formally Commuinty Kindy Turangi) is a purpose built, quality early childhood education centre nestled in the heart of Turangi, close to local amenities and facilities. The Education Review Office has rated Beststart Turangi Kindy in the top 7% of NZ childcare centres providing positive learning outcomes for children.​

Our centre provides education and care for up to 50 children aged 2 to 5 years. We have an open door policy and you are most welcome to come and see us anytime, our team will give you a guided tour around our beautiful indoor and recently upgraded outdoor playground.  

We offer several care options to suit your family’s needs including full time, morning and afternoon sessions which run from 8.15am-12.15pm and 12.45pm-4.45pm except a Wednesday which is a short day finishing at 2.15pm. We also offer a daily casual booking service provided ratios are met.

Our qualified and caring teachers provide an environment which supports children to develop by taking responsibility, persisting with difficulty, being involved, communication and expressing ideas and feelings, and taking an interest. Through these experiences, the children develop strategies to become life-long learners. 

Each child has a key teacher who is responsible for the upkeep of their portfolio and building a relationship with the child and whanau. Our unique Be School Ready initiative is evident through a stimulating print rich environment, intentional teaching strategies, promoting child independence and regular visits to local primary schools for our 4-year-olds.

We also provide fresh, nutritious morning and afternoon teas and encourage parents to do the same when providing your child with a healthy lunch box.

Our teachers identify individual learning goals for each child and value a partnership with parents/whanau to receive your aspirations and feedback in supporting your child's growth and development.  Current interests are responded to by implementing intentional teaching strategies and providing resources to develop and extend on their learning. With the growing world of multi-media our planning is recorded on Story Park, in children’s individual portfolios and on our planning wall, available to be viewed daily.

We have a bi-cultural perspective and in-depth knowledge and understanding of Tikanga and Te Reo Maori.
