BestStart Somerfield Kindy (formerly ABC Somerfield) is a small, intimate early learning centre situated in the quiet suburb of Somerfield. We cater for 30 children aged 2 to 5 years old and offer a range of morning, afternoon, school day and full day sessions to suit the needs of your family.

We boast a huge backyard with a large sandpit, bike track, vegetable garden and a range of interchangeable climbing equipment to challenge your child to take risks within a safe environment.  Our cosy warm villa is set out in a way that encourages pockets of learning and discovery or the choice to join in on larger group activities.  We have a huge range of resources available to suit the current needs of the children and regularly refresh the environment to keep up with the children’s changing interests.

Our small team of qualified and registered teachers are in tune with current education trends and use their experience and expertise to deliver individual learning programmes based around learning aspirations created by families, children, and what the teachers have observed.

Our 4-5 year olds are involved in our Be School Ready initiative to support their transition to school and we offer termly visits to Somerfield School for the oldest children at our early learning centre.

ABC Somerfield and it’s wonderful staff feel like an extension to our family. Having had two children attend (and moving from a larger preschool that wasn’t the right fit) we are blessed to have been a part of the centre for over 4 years now. We love the smaller numbers, the community feel and the collaborative approach the centre takes partnering with the families. They have a genuine drive to know and connect with the children, celebrating their uniqueness and building on their individual interests. Not to mention the warm, caring and homely environment of the centre and focus on supporting the children’s development through exploration and discovery.

Our son has been attending ABC Somerfield for almost 2 and a half years now and we love it. We really like the fact that is a small, intimate centre with a homely feel. The teachers all take a genuine interest in the children’s well being, growth and development. The teachers are all super easy to talk to, and the kids just love them! They seek to explore and develop the children’s interests, offering activities that provide meaningful play based learning. There’s always a lot of collaboration and discussion between staff and parents which shows there is genuine interest in our ideas about the day to day running of the centre. The centre itself is lovely and cosy, with a great outdoor area. It offers a lot of variety to meet the needs of all children. I know our youngest daughter will be so excited to attend ABC Somerfield with her brother when she turns two.

Thanks for taking such good care of Ems throughout here time at Somerfield. I really appreciate the time you have all taken to settle her and help her become more confident. From the countless trips to the window to say goodbye, the cuddles you’ve given when she’s needed it and the countless experiences you’ve provided to help her throughout her learning journey – I’ll be forever grateful. The early years are so important and you have all provided such a strong foundation for her future learning journey. You are all such genuine, kind, caring people/teachers.
