BestStart Paraparaumu

BestStart Paraparaumu (formerly ABC Paraparaumu) childcare centre is located between Paraparaumu Beach and Otaihanga on the Kapiti Coast. You can find us on the corner of Percival and Mazengarb Roads. Our centre provides care and education for children from 6 months to 5 years old.

BestStart Paraparaumu offers unique preschool and childcare experiences, that will include anything from:

• Bug hunts
• Researching at the local library
• Visiting our friends at the local rest home and schools
• Gardening and climbing trees
• Fun learning journeys involving literacy, numeracy and science

Our dedicated team of early childhood teachers provide a programme that ignites your child’s curiosity. Your child will be given opportunities to investigate and make discoveries every day. We capture these magic moments and upload them to your child’s personal StoryPark page.

Our early learning spaces

We have three spacious rooms which all have something a little different for your child as they grow 

Our Nursery: the Pihinga room. This space is all about creating a warm, safe, home-like environment for our babies. Teachers are aware of every child’s individual rhythms and routines. We work with you to provide the best care possible for your baby. If this is your baby’s first time in care, we will help you and your child feel comfortable for a smooth and happy transition.

Our Toddler space: the Maahuri room. Once your child comes into the toddlers room, they are ready to start making friends. Your child’s teachers support and nurture social and emotional development through group experiences. The programme gives your child the opportunity to express themselves through their developing language, creative arts and messy play. Your child will start to develop more independence and we celebrate each milestone.

Our Preschool: The Kauri room. Here your child will discover new things with their friends. Teachers work closely with our local schools and provide a Be School Ready initiative to give your child the skills they need to feel confident about school.  We want to instil a love of learning and curiosity in children that will last a lifetime. We explore our local community at least three times a week whether it be our local Heritage Trail or visiting the library. Currently, we are learning about the history of Te Ati Awa Park, which sits directly opposite our centre. Occasionally we even get to take a break from our history lessons to have a go on the BMX track!
