BestStart Oxford Street Kindy (formerly Community Kindy Oxford Street) is ‘the kindy of choice in Tawa’ where children, parents, whānau and teachers build life long friendships.

At BestStart Oxford Street Kindy children learn through everyday play. Through our programme, teachers promote dispositions such as curiosity, independence, resilience, empathy, taking responsibility and asking questions to extend their thinking. Children are encouraged to learn alongside each other and there is a focus on promoting positive social skills and being an active member of our centre whanau.

BestStart Oxford Street Kindy is a warm, welcoming, fun and happy place to be. We embrace the strong partnership we have with families/whanau and our local community, such as the local schools in the area.

Children lead their own  learning as supported by our play-based programme. Each child has their own learning journal which captures their individual learning.

We offer excellent teacher to child ratios, with highly experienced teachers. Our group size is smaller than many centres, with a maximum of 34 children per session.

We offer flexibility with your care arrangements such as short 4 hour sessional care in the mornings or afternoons, as well as full-day or a mixture of both. An added bonus is that we are open 52 weeks of the year. Our rates are affordable and we offer 20 hours free ECE for 3-5 year olds.

We love our HUGE, outdoor playground which is an extension of what we offer inside. We truly enjoy lots of opportunity to run, hide, ride bikes, skip, jump and of course have fun, even when it rains!

Our team of teachers are committed to delivering a nurturing educational programme for children using the children’s interests as our guide.

We have a commitment to reducing waste and recycling where we can. Children learn about caring for the environment in a meaningful way. In summer we relish the opportunities for gardening in our veggie garden and eating the fruits of our labour.

We ensure children are well prepared for school. Our Be School Ready initiative is woven through everything that we do. It supports children to learn through fun, creative opportunities and social interactions.
