BestStart Faringdon

BestStart Faringdon (formerly EduKids Faringdon) is a purpose built childcare centre catering for children aged from 3 months to 5 years. We have the latest education and play resources to support all ages and developmental levels.

We offer a healthy menu designed in collaboration with a with nutritionist and NZ Heart Foundation guidelines. All of our meals are made on site by our very own centre cook. We offer lunch box days in the Prep Room to support the children’s transition to school.

Our philosophy is to create a fun learning environment where children/tamariki and families/whānau feel welcome and secure. Our neighbourhood is very important to us and is an integral part of our curriculum as we get out and explore it, supporting the children to find out more about the world around them.

Family/whanau engagement is very important to us. We value what parents have to offer us to best support their child’s/tamariki’s learning. We have regular events, inviting families/whanau into the learning environment to celebrate their child’s learning, e.g. parent transition information evenings, cultural celebrations, Grandparent Days, parent helpers on outings.

We have a natural feel to our outdoor environment which offers lots of areas for children to explore and develop at their own pace. Equipment caters for the ages and stages of the children using the play space.

Nursery - In the Nursery, our use of a Primary Caregiving philosophy allows babies and infants to develop bonds with their caregivers and ensures that each child has a teacher dedicated to them.

Toddler Room - Our Toddler Room caters for the needs of 2-3 year olds, with a team of teachers dedicated to the needs of this age group. With a burgeoning sense of independence these children require care that supports them to develop these skills, while knowing they can still have a hug if required. 

Preschool - Our Preschool classroom focus is on supporting children to be independent learners, able to self-select and make their own discoveries, while respecting others and their environment.

We have BestStart’s unique Be School Ready initiative and support this by developing relationships with nearby primary schools. In the Prep Room our experienced teaching team focus on having fun, while the same time supporting children and their families as they begin the transition to school. We have just begun regular visits to the newly opened Lemonwood Grove School and are developing a relationship with Rolleston Christian School.
