Our childcare and education programme

We take time and address the small things so that children are prepared for a lifelong journey of learning.

We offer:

Home-like atmosphere.  We’re a small centre, licensed for 45 children from two to five years old. Our centre environment encourages tuakana-teina relationships where children support each other to learn and grow with guidance and knowledge from our skilled teaching team. The children will enjoy outdoor activities, such as looking after our centre pets and helping their teachers in the garden. We also take the children on excursions into the community on a regular basis.

Teaching resilience. The teaching team are passionate about supporting our children to develop resilience and regulating emotions in a positive and proactive environment. Teachers have been trained by Te Ara Tuhura's Wellbeing Coach and mentor in practical strategies to support our children both at home and at preschool.

Preparation for school. Our Be School Ready initiative is woven throughout the everyday curriculum. As we prepare children for school, we meet children where they are developmentally and provide age appropriate activities.  Children learn and develop social and self-help skills with numeracy and literacy woven throughout the daily programme. We focus on life-long skills and work in partnership with our local schools to prepare children for the next stage in their learning journey. Each term we take children to Belfast School to help make the transition into the school environment as smooth as possible.

Our relationships. We take the time each day to ensure the small things matter. We build strong relationships between teachers, children, their whānau and the wider community. We know how important these relationships are for a child to reach their learning potential.

kind words from our parents

My husband and I were blown away by the care and ongoing support we received from every member of the team at ABC Belfast. Our daughter absolutely loves her time at pre school and has grown such strong relationships with all her teachers, she talks about them all the time and is always excited about going to see them. It is such a comfort knowing your child is happy and well looked after when you have them in care.

Matthew’s clapping and cheering when we arrive at ABC Belfast in the car is probably the best indication of what we all think of this wonderful preschool. I cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful, dedicated teachers and support staff. Matthew has only been going to preschool for a few months, but he has settled in incredibly well. I know this is because everybody at ABC Belfast is so wonderfully warm and responsive to the children, their siblings as well as the parents.

Each and every day, the staff go above and beyond to ensure the children are happy, engaged, playing and learning. It is the extra quality care and interest in the family that makes it a special place. I am always so amazed by the enthusiasm and the time the teachers take to tell you all the details about Matthew’s day, who he played with, what he learnt and how he ate, what he enjoyed etc. etc. Another bonus is that ABC Belfast offers Healthy Heart approved meals, which means I don’t have to worry about Matthew eating great, nutritious food – and trying new foods because his classmates are eating it too!

Parent

The genuine caring that the staff show the children at the preschool makes ABC Belfast a child’s ‘home away from home. I know it is rare to find a preschool with such amazing staff, which is why I cannot recommend ABC Belfast enough to anyone who wants a wonderful, caring and nurturing learning environment for their child.

Parent

To the wonderful team at ABC Belfast, thank you so much for all your time and effort with Zoe and Jemma. I am so proud of how Zoe has taken to school – she is very confident and happy there which proves what a fine job you have all done. Jemma is shaping out the some way. I have nothing but positive thoughts and words for your childcare.
