Welcome to BestStart Arawhata Road Kindy (formerly ABC Arawhata) in Paraparaumu. We are a small, friendly, whānau orientated childcare centre and we welcome children aged 2-5 years old. We are located on the beautiful Kapiti Coast and are close to public transport, the main Paraparaumu shopping centre, parks and reserves and are a five-minute drive from the beach and river.

Learning at our Kapiti Coast Kindergarten

Fun and magical preschool learning experiences. Your toddler or pre-schooler will be encouraged to join in all aspects of our centre programme where we offer a variety of activities such as projects, music, literacy, maths, science and creative arts just to name a few. There is plenty of uninterrupted time for them to discover, explore and research their individual interests and ideas.

We have a quality early childhood education programme. Every parent wants their child to have great opportunities in care and education. We offer a Be School Ready initiative for our preschool children where we build relationships with our local schools and the wider community. This provides the opportunity for your child to develop a passion for learning, confidence and social skills which supports their transition to school. This makes this move a positive, smooth and enjoyable experience.

Healthy lifestyle. We have a vegetable garden where they can be involved in the complete process of gardening from clearing, planting and harvesting to preparing the vegetables for themselves and their whānau to eat. We have a spacious outdoor area that gives your child the freedom to play.

Sustainability. Your child will learn about the value of ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ through everyday activities.  Your child will also learn about the importance of insects in our environment and the value of water. We have set up a watering system that the children operate to water our vegetable garden whilst helping them to conserve water.

Cultural Values. We make it a priority that all cultures are acknowledged, recognised and included in every aspect of our centre.

Choosing the right education and care for your child can be overwhelming. Please contact us or pop into our Kapiti office and have a cuppa while your child explores. You can meet our friendly teaching team and see our early childcare and education centre in action.

kind words from our parents

Parent

Thank you for fantastic education given to Itsuki. He loves kindy, his friends and teacher. He has become independent, kind, thoughtful and friendly through his experience at kindy. You are the best teachers ever.

Parent

I’ve noticed a positive change in my son. He had learnt a lot since starting - words, objects, numbers etc. The teachers are lovely and my son really likes them too. I am happy with his progress and will be sending my younger son there too when he's of age.

Parent

Staff have been brilliant in developing my daughter’s social skills. They have gone out of their way to be flexible and communicate with me.

Parent

I love that the staff are so welcoming and friendly. They’ve been amazingly supportive of my starting study this year and changing my child to full time care.

Parent

Our daughter is happy to go to kindy every day and even when we drive by in the weekends, she waves and shouts out “Hello kindy!” This is great confirmation that she is enjoying attending, and always comes home happy and messy (in a good way) and full of stories about her friends and teachers.

Zara - 5 year old

"I miss Jess and Sarah and Laura because I miss them. I miss Jess's cuddles. I miss Sarah's voice. I miss Laura's smile."
